Katingan Mentaya - Tampelas Project:

Shifting Intent Into Action

Exhibition Context at Jakarta Architecture Festival 2025

Tampelas is a pilot village in the Katingan Mentaya Project, shifting from extractive practices toward a regenerative economy that restores the peat swamp forest. The development demonstrates how participatory planning with the local community can generate adaptive architecture that responds to new programs and seasonal river changes.

Facilities include a multifunction hall, albumin production center, guest house, and supporting infrastructure. The central area functions as a gathering space in the dry season, while the multifunction building also serves as shelter during floods. Designed, built, and operated together with locals, the project strengthens community capacity while restoring the environment.
