In collaboration with Takenaka Design, PDW provided landscape design services for a new office tower in Sudirman Central Business District (SCBD), an integrated mixed-use development district in South Jakarta, Indonesia.
The design scope focused on the arrival plaza, the garden around the ground floor, and upper on-structure view terraces at the 7th and 40th floors while aiming to achieve the highest green building rating. The landscape design aimed to broaden and strengthen a designated green office in an urban zone and create a landscape-dominated environment in a dense urban context.
Local plants are carefully selected to match the color and texture palette. Existing trees were transplanted and combined with new trees to provide maximum shading for pedestrians and plazas. To make irrigation efficient for all plants, we use an automatic drip system with a rain sensor. The walkway was also an important issue for this project. Pedestrian interests take precedence over other vehicles, so we plot the pedestrian path inside and around the site by the standards and to be able to accommodate wheelchairs for people with disabilities.
